I did everything that I said I would do.
I made all these promises, then followed through.
I been working so hard on this opus for you.
OOOOh.
I woke up ascetic composed before dawn,
Selecting each lyric, each melodic pawn,
Creating the perfect poetic persona.
I wanna know.
WHERE IS MY PARADE?
I trudged through the city to capture the noise,
Of demented musicians abusing their toys.
I sculpted it preciously, used every ploy,
OOOOh.
A sisyphean task of an obstinate will,
A narcissist's drama, and extrovert's thrill,
Cause the world is a stage for my digital swill,
I wanna know.
WHERE IS MY PARADE?
You forgot all the ticker tape.
You forgot the brass band.
You forgot to invite all the vendors,
Forgot all the floats and the stilt walking handstand brigade.
You forgot to close down 5th avenue,
Forgot all the smiling young children who should be pointing at me,
And asking their mommies and daddies,
"Who's He?"
The man with the crown on his head, and a white sequined cape,
On the float with the president's wife,
Beneficiently waving at the people at his feet,
Cause he did something wonderful for you and for me,
So they closed all the schools and made a national holiday,
Put his face on a coin and a flag and a stamp,
And he started a charity to cure every ill in the world,
And it worked,
And that's why there's world peace.
WHERE IS MY PARADE????
Baby in your cradle dressed in white.
Cherubic little angel flower, preening.
Baby in your cradle late each night,
You scream until you suckle,
How convenient.
Suck and Shit and Sleep,
Suck and Shit and Sleep,
How I miss those days now that I'm older.
Suck and Shit and Sleep,
Suck and Shit and Sleep,
Baby precious child, treasure every day.
Baby in your cradle just like me.
We both know what we need and we'll cry until we've got it.
Baby in your cradle don't mind me.
I think I'll join you in my baby bonnet.
Suck and Shit and Sleep....
There's a shadow on the wall.
It's kinda scary being Baby.
Nowhere to go, when you can hardly crawl.
Still I'd gladly trade it all.
Baby in your cradle life is sweet.
Enjoy the perks you have until you're grown.
When I was an ugly duckling.
I was spat upon, shat upon,
Knocked about and ruffled up.
When I was an ugly duckling.
I was bitten hard,
In the yard by every dirty animal.
Mother duck didn't give a fuck.
Brother duck, curse my rotten luck.
When I was an ugly
In the fall of 2012, Avi Fox-Rosen made a naïve commitment to himself to release a short album for each month of 2013. After 60+ fully produced songs, 20+ guest musicians, 12 EPs and 12 months later, Avi finished the job.
After the year of nonstop making, Avi chose the best songs of the bunch, remixed and mastered them. March 5th, 2014, Avi is poised to independently release Where Is My Parade? The title track is a circus rock anthem to narcissism. Followed up with Baby, where gorgeous vocal harmonies pine for returning to the womb. Ugly Duckling gives the finger to adversity, College paints a picture that young people are only too familiar with leaving college for a workplace barren of opportunity. Love is a Word celebrates what we all know too well, and Everybody Dies doesn’t let anyone get too comfortable. Fox-Rosen’s lush production fully realizes each musical universe he references, jumping from circus to soul to rock to swing.

Avi Fox-Rosen makes music with a sardonic sense of humor, dense and dark lyrics, and enchantingly twisted melodies. In 2013
he's releasing an EP of brand new material every month. New York Music Daily has heralded Avi's album-a-month project as "one of the most ambitious jobs anyone in the rock world has taken on lately". Damn straight....more
